The fire gutted and destroyed all research and teaching facilities, office equipment and records. The result of this has been the inability of the department to render services effectively. The restoration of these services would be positively enhanced by the provision of basic equipment, office and laboratory spaces by the managements of the college of Medicine and UNTH. Recently, new equipment has been acquired by the department.
